How would you feel if you had to walk home from work each evening along a dark pathway that might have a hungry tiger lurking? That is what some residents of villages situated at the fringe areas of the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve face daily.

Human-tiger conflict is one of the biggest threats to keeping the tiger from going extinct. When a human is attacked by a tiger, the natural reaction is to demand the killing of the tiger. Reducing the opportunities for this human-tiger conflict to occur plays a critical role in preserving the tiger.

One proven, very cost effective way to reduce the number of attacks is to place solar powered street lights on the paths that run along the perimeter of these villages. Predators avoid lighted areas.

Our partners in India, the highly respected Corbett Foundation, can install these for $416 each. It only takes 7-8 of the lights to protect a village.

Our goal this year is to fund at least 25 of these lights at a total cost of $10,400 (and hopefully more!) Every dollar helps! Last year we raised over $20,000 for solar powered tiger watering holes mostly from many small donations. It would be wonderful if we could do that again and fund 50 lights instead of 25. So, please make any size donation you can, no matter how small. They do add up!!

Profits from the sales of International Tiger Day 2024 merchandise will go towards funding this worthwhile project aimed at protecting tigers in the wild.
